This page helps us create new content to help our web s
ite viewers improve the urban ecology in their own cities. For example, while many people are pleased that the city of Toronto, Ontario has a tree canopy cover of 17%, many people believe that some of the parks should have a diverse layer of native herbs (wildflowers) and wild grasses. If we get such feedback, we can research methods, techniques and protocols for improving ground cover in public spaces.
Remember: a Native Plant (herb, or flower, or a grass, shrub or tree) is one which occurred within a defined region (like Canada, Ontario, or specifically, the Windsor region, for example) before settlement by Europeans.
Like the baby Screech Owls at right (born and raised in a downtown neighbourhood, just a few feet from a house), help us get wiser with our knowledge and mindfulness of urban ecolgy, ecosystem gardenings and the use of native plants (these owls spent most of their daylight hours in a native White Cedar Tree (Thuja occidentalis) - photograph by Ben Porchuk.
Feedback from those who fill out the short survey below will only be used to improve the content of this web site.
Feedback from many visitors to this web site have told us that they value the information within as a solid source for 'self help' when it comes to ecosystem gardening, urban ecology and native plants.
Remember: Ecosystem Gardening is about teaching us sustainable gardening, conservation of natural resources, and to create welcoming habitat for wildlife in our home spaces, at schools or any cultivated site where we actively landscape plants, rocks and other features.
Below: this giant Sycamore tree supports more than wildlife - it is reguarly home to many young humans!

Whatever city you are from, we would like to hear from you - your take on what is good about the urban ecology, and what could be improved.
This is your chance to help shape this web site - to improve the content to assist others in their efforts to improve the natural environments within their cities.
Remember: urban ecology deals with the interaction between organisms (plants, animals, mushrooms, etc.) in an urban or urbanized community, and their interaction with that community.
